Ronald D. Snee, Ph.D., is Principal, Process and Organizational Excellence, and Lean Six Sigma Practice Leader at Tunnell Consulting

The Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Industries, like many other industries, are experiencing a growing need to improve performance driven by global competition and the increasing impact of information technology. Speed to market, product quality problems, regulatory compliance issues, need to reduce costs, waste and cycle time; the list of problems is getting longer. How to go about this improvement in a systematic, focused and sustainable manner is the question. Fortunately a world-class body of improvement technology exists known as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing. To take advantage of these methods one needs a holistic approach that integrates the useful tools from all methodologies into a common approach and provides the infrastructure and management systems to sustain the improvements. Applications include diverse areas such as waste and cycle time reduction, yield improvement, deviation reduction, quality systems improvement, and technology transfer.

Our speaker, Dr. Ronald Snee, of Tunnell Consulting, will focus on:
• Integration of Six Sigma and Lean into an effective holistic improvement methodology
• Deciding what approach and tools to use on a given problem.
• Making effective use of improvement methods when an organization is not engaged in a top-down organization-wide improvement initiative
• Creating the improvement roles and management systems needed to sustain the gains of improvement initiatives and projects
• Using improvement to drive organizational culture change
